Alex McIntosh (bowls)

Alex McIntosh was a former lawn bowler born on 24 May 1936.

McIntosh began bowling in 1955 and won his first international cap in 1962. He won three national outdoor championship titles (Fours 1968), Pairs (1973 & 1985) and four national indoor titles.[1] His indoor club was Midlothian and outdoor club was Newbattle.
His greatest moments came when winning three Commonwealth Games medals and a World Championship medal. He won a silver in the 1970 Fours, gold in the 1974 Pairs and silver in the 1978 Pairs. The world championship medal arrived in the Four event during the 1980 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. McIntosh was the standard bearer at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. McIntosh died on 16 August 2008 aged 72.[2]
