Alexander Wilhelm
Alex Wilhelm is a German music executive and entrepreneur. He currently serves as the Senior Director of A&R at Capitol Music Group, a division of Universal Music Group.[1][2]
Career
Crazed Hits
Wilhelm started his career by founding influential independent A&R company Crazed Hits out of his bedroom in Germany, through which he discovered a variety of major recording artists, including LMFAO, Katy Perry, Drake, OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Neon Trees, Owl City, Brantley Gilbert, Mike Posner, Jessie J, Odd Future, Kid Cudi, and others.[3][4] [5][6][7][8][9] During his time at Crazed Hits, Wilhelm also discovered the hit song "If I Were A Boy", which was later recorded by Beyoncé.[3][10]
When Billboard Magazine published an article on Wilhelm and Crazed Hits, former Epic Records President Charlie Walk commented: "What Alex was doing was very singular but global. So that became very intriguing to me, I thought that was a very smart, sort of futuristic view of A&R."[3]
Warner Bros. Records
In October 2012, Wilhelm became the Director of A&R at Warner Bros. Records, where he was involved in signing and/or A&R'ing artists such as Passenger, Jason Derulo, and Bebe Rexha. [3][10]
Capitol Music Group
In September 2014, Wilhelm joined Capitol Music Group, where he was promoted to Senior Director of A&R. [11][1][2] At Capitol, Wilhelm signed rapper Silento who scored an international hit with his debut single "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)".
