Alexandra Anna Daddario[1] (born March 16, 1986) is an American actress and model. She is best known for playing Annabeth Chase in the Percy Jackson film series and Blake in San Andreas.[2] She starred in the films Texas Chainsaw 3D and Hall Pass, and has guest starred in series including White Collar, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the first season of True Detective and American Horror Story: Hotel.[3]
Early life
Daddario was born in New York City, New York. She is the daughter of Christina, a lawyer, and Richard Daddario, a prosecutor and former head of the NYPD counter-terrorism unit under Mayor Bloomberg.[4] Her brother, Matthew Daddario, is also an actor.[5][6] She also has a sister named Catharine.[7] Her paternal grandfather was Emilio Q. Daddario, a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from the state of Connecticut from 1959 to 1971.[8][9] She has Italian, Czech, English, and Irish ancestry.[10]
Daddario was raised on Manhattan's Upper East Side and is an alumna of Brearley School and the Professional Children's School.[11] Daddario said she decided to be an actress at the age of eleven.[2] She attended Marymount Manhattan College.[12] She said she studied the Meisner acting technique for years.[13]
Career
Daddario made her television debut at the age of 16, when she played victimized teen Laurie Lewis in All My Children. Her first major role was as Annabeth Chase in the 2010 fantasy-adventure film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief in between her recurring role as Neal Caffrey's love interest Kate Moreau in the hit series White Collar.
In 2011, she co-starred in Hall Pass and had a recurring role on Parenthood.[14]
In 2012, she starred in the music video for Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" and had an episode guest stint in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Her first starring role since Percy Jackson was the slasher film Texas Chainsaw 3D as Heather Miller, which was shown in 2013, although the filming took place almost two years prior. In the latter part of 2013, Daddario reprised her role as Annabeth Chase in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters. Daddario started filming a zombie comedy movie, Burying the Ex, in Los Angeles, California, helmed by Joe Dante with Anton Yelchin and Ashley Greene. She filmed the independent movie Unreachable by Conventional Means. Burying the Ex was among the chosen films participating but not competing in the Venice Film Festival in 2014.[15]
In 2014, Daddario garnered much attention for her role on the first season of the HBO series True Detective.[3] She appeared in a four episode arc as Lisa Tragnetti, one of Woody Harrelson's character's extramarital affairs.[16] Daddario had a lead role in the 3D earthquake film San Andreas (2015), with Dwayne Johnson playing her character's father.[13] Filming started in April 2014 in Gold Coast and Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and finished at the end of July in San Francisco, California. Also in 2015, Daddario had a cameo in the pilot of the Will Forte TV show, The Last Man on Earth,[17] signed a deal as an ambassador with Movado, a Swiss watch company, and had a guest appearance on American Horror Story: Hotel, where she played a fictionalized version of designer Natacha Rambova.[18]
In early 2016, Daddario had a supporting role in the Nicholas Sparks film adaptation, The Choice.[19] Daddario was cast alongside Kate Upton in the road trip sex comedy The Layover, directed by William H. Macy. Daddario replaced Lea Michele, who dropped out of the film due to prior commitments. The film follows two best friends (Daddario and Upton) as they go on a vacation and end up fighting over the same guy during a layover in St. Louis.
Daddario has been cast as the female lead in the film adaptation of Baywatch, reuniting her with her San Andreas costar Dwayne Johnson. Daddario will play the role of Summer, played by Nicole Eggert in the original TV series, who serves as a love interest for Matt Brody, who will be played by Zac Efron.[20]
Personal life
Daddario lives in Los Angeles, California[13] with her dog, Levon.[21]
