Alfred Ernest Wileman

Alfred Ernest Wileman (1860—1929) was a British diplomat and entomologist.

Wileman was appointed as the British Vice Consul for the Japanese city of Hakodate and surrounding prefectures in April 1901,[1] and moved to be consul to Taiwan in 1903,[2] and to the then Territory of Hawaii in 1908.[3] In 1909, he was appointed Consul-General to the Philippines (then a United States territory).<ref name="Edinburgh Gazette - 19Nov1909 - "Alfred Ernest Wileman, Esq., to be His Majesty's Consul-General for the Phillipine Islands, to reside at Manila"">"The Edinburgh Gazette, November 19, 1909" (PDF). Wileman was an accomplished amateur lepidopterist.
