Algoa FM is a Commercial radio station established to cater for the needs of the Eastern Cape and the Garden Route of South Africa in the 1980s and is still a driving force in the media of the present day.
The station is licensed to broadcast as an Adult Contemporary radio station and plays music suited for the tastes of the people in the region of the Eastern Cape and Garden Route. This is monitored by the South African licensing authority known as the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, or ICASA.
Recent Footprint Extension
Algoa FM was granted an extension to their licensed broadcast region by ICASA in 2011. The additional transmitter split extends their broadcast footprint across the Garden Route to Mossel Bay. The signal was officially switched on in December 2011 by the station's Managing Director, Dave Tiltmann. Algoa FM now reaches the popular coastal towns of Knysna, George, Wilderness and Sedgefield.
