Ali Raymi (born Ali Ibrahim Ali Al-Raimi Arabic: علي الريمي December 1973 – 23 May 2015[16][17][18][14]) was a Yemeni professional boxer, best known for his unblemished fight record of 25 wins and no losses, with all 25 wins by knockout; twenty of which occurred in the first round versus undefeated fighters.[19]
Raymi lived in Mecca prior to 1991. He died in an explosion, possibly a Saudi airstrike on the Republican Guard positions in Al-Nahdeen district, on 23 May 2015 in Sana'a, aged 41.[20]
Personal life
Ali Raymi won a Gold Medal in Algeria for the Yemeni military, representing the boxing team before turning pro,[21] Stories of Raymi's life including his military career were released by his manager Felix J Arno [22] in an interview with THE RING Managing Editor Brian Harty.[23]
Boxing career
Yemeni News archives[24][25] show Raymi started boxing at the late age of 30 representing the Yemeni military, compiling an amateur record of 117-2 (117 KO). He was a Yemeni amateur champion in 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007.[24][25] It was during this time that Ali Raymi started breaking Yemeni cultural norms by selling alcohol, and participating in private unsanctioned fights for the next 3 years. Raymi grew to have a reputation in Sana'a as a loose cannon.[26]
On 11 November 2013, he set a new world record[27] by winning his first 20 fights as a professional by first-round knockout.[28]

Ali Raymi vs Román González
Thai undefeated legend Samson Dutch Boy Gym was a no show at his highly anticipated[31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41] scheduled fight against Raymi. A Raymi vs. Román González bout was proposed between Raymi (at that time a two-division world champion) and Román González (three-division world champion).[42] Despite Ali Raymi public challenge[43] to Román González. González took on lesser opponents instead of facing Undefeated Knockout Artist Ali Raymi.
Controversies
Ali Raymi[1] was rapidly ranked by the major governing bodies [44] (WBO #7 in December 2013 [45] & WBC #9[46] in December 2013). Other governing bodies followed suit the next year, awarding Ali Raymi world championships in 3 divisions: World Light Flyweight (UBO),[47] World Minimumweight & Flyweight (IBI).[48] In addition to top rankings by other governing bodies: (IBO #1 in August 2014, WBO #6 in January 2015[49] & WBA #6 in May 2015 [50]) his critics were generally silenced mainly because the top fighters in boxing refused to face Raymi.[51] However, the biggest controversy was the WBA dropping Raymi five (5) spots for no apparent reason other than his death, leading Dan Rafael, Senior Boxing writer at ESPN, to criticize the WBA corruption.[52]
