Alice Walpole

Alice Louise Walpole (born 1 September 1963) is the current British Ambassador to Luxembourg, a position she has held since September 2011.

Early life

Alice is the daughter of Robert Walpole, 10th Baron Walpole of Mannington Hall, North Norfolk, and his first wife, Judith Chaplin, OBE, MP(née Schofield).

Alice attended Norwich High School for Girls. She went to the University of Cambridge, where she was a member of New Hall (now Murray Edwards College).

Career

She joined the FCO in 1985.

Ambassador

Following a posting as HM Consul-General in Basra, Iraq (2009–11), she became the Ambassador to Luxembourg in July 2011.[1]

Personal life

In 1990 she married Dr Angel Carro Castrillo (of Switzerland), with whom she has six children (Hester and Beatrice, 1990; Isobel, 1993; Inigo, 1996; and Ralph and Edmund (Ned) 1999).[2] They divorced in 2010, having separated in 2002.
