Allan J. Katz is a former City Commissioner of Tallahassee and American Ambassador to Portugal.[1] As of 2014, he is a professor of political science at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.[2] He was raised in a Jewish family in St. Louis, the son of Fred and Eileen Katz.[3] His father escaped Nazi Germany for the United States where he worked as a salesman;[4] and was one of the original founders of the St. Louis Holocaust Museum.[3] Katz graduated from University City High School.[3]
