An allumette /æljuːˈmɛt/ is a matchstick-sized cut, 6 mm x 6 mm x 5 to 6 cm (1/4 in. x 1/4 in. x 2 to 2½ in.) long, used for potatoes and other firm vegetables.[1]
Allumette also refers to puff pastry cut into sticks.[2]
