Almamegretta are a SKA /rap/dub/world/reggae group from Naples, Italy. Their lyrics are in Napoletano. Their music became quite successful, leading to remix work for Massive Attack. Adrian Sherwood also remixed their album "Sanacore".
History
The group was established by Gianni Mantice, Patrizia Di Fiore, and Gennaro T in 1987. In 1990 Patrizia left the band, replaced by Raiz and Paolo Polcari. D.Rad later joined the group. Raiss (also spelled Rais and Raiz) left the band in 2003, pursuing a solo career, though he returned for the group's 2013 effort Controra.[1] In 2004 D.RaD died after falling off his scooter whilst riding in the rain.[2]
