Alonso Ancira

Alonso Ancira (born 1956 in Mexico City) is a Mexican businessman who is the controlling shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Altos Hornos de Mexico ("AHMSA”).[1] Ancira purchased AHMSA from the Mexican Government in 1991, when the government privatized the steel industry. In 2006 the magazine Vanguardia named Ancira as one of Mexico's "power elite," with a fortune of over $700 million. On March 30, 2006, Ancira was elected as President of the Iron and Steel Mexican Chamber (CANACERO) for the years 2006-2007. Ancira is the Chairman of the Board of MATT.org (Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together) a non for profit organization based in San Antonio, TX.
