Aloo Chaat (Hindi: 'आलू चाट',Urdu: آلو چاٹ) is the name of a street food item made in North India and Pakistan. It is prepared by frying potatoes in oil and adding spices and chutney.
It can be served as a snack, a side dish or a light meal.[1] It is made from boiled and fried cubed potatoes served with chat masala. It is a versatile dish that has many regional variations.[2] The word “Aloo” means potatoes in Hindi and the word “Chaat” is derived from Hindi word Chatna which means tasting. Thus, Aloo Chaat means a savory potato snack. It is also spelled as Alu Chaat.
