Dolná Strehová (Hungarian: Alsósztregova) is a village and municipality in the Veľký Krtíš District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia.

History

In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1251 (1251 Strigoa, 1381 Strogea, Stergow, Stergo, 1349 Stregoua, 1487 Ztrehowa, 1493 Alsozthergowa). It belonged to many feudatory families. In 1534 it passed to Levice town. In the 18th century it belonged to the Esterházy family. From 1939 to 1944 it belonged to Hungary.
