Amanda Bouldin (born 1984 or 1985)[2] is an American politician from Manchester, New Hampshire who has served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives since January 2015. Bouldin, a Democrat, represents Hillsborough County's 12th district.[3] She is a member of the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance[3] and a Free State Project participant.[4][5]

Early life and education

Bouldin moved to New Hampshire from Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, in 2009.[2][6]

Career

Politics

Bouldin was briefly a member of a Tea Party group in Texas, but she abandoned that group when she realized they did not share her values. The pursuit of liberty led her to become a Free State Project participant and move to New Hampshire.[4] She later became a member of the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance.[3]

As a freshman representative, she introduced two bills addressing increasing heroin use in New Hampshire. HB 270 provided legal protection against arrest and prosecution for individuals calling for medical assistance for someone with an opiate-related medical problem.[7] HB 271 relaxed restrictions on prescribing naloxone, granting authorized health care professionals the power to write a prescription for anyone at risk of an opiate overdose or for a person who knows someone at risk of an opiate overdose.[8] The bills were passed by the legislature, signed by the governor, and became key planks of the state's response.[9]

In December 2015, a Facebook exchange between Bouldin and two Republican representatives, including Josh Moore, over a proposed expansion[10] of the existing "public indecency" law was covered by national and overseas media outlets.[11][12][13]

In November 2015, she reportedly had a job in sales.[14]

In 2011 Bouldin founded the private charity Shire Sharing to honor her late father who had organized and run a similar charity in Texas.[15] In 2015, Bouldin's Shire Sharing raised over $17,000 and brought Thanksgiving meals to over 600 families in New Hampshire, their best year ever.[16]
