The Layman (Amauris albimaculata) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found in southern Africa.

The wingspan is 50–60 mm for males and 62-68 for females. Adults are on wing year round (with peaks in summer and autumn).[1]

The larvae feed on Tylophora anomala, Tylophora stolzii, Cynanchum chirindense, Cynanchum vincetoxicum, Gymnema, Marsdenia (including Marsdenia angolensis and Marsdenia racemosa) and Secamone.[2]
