Amberley "Ambo" Lobo (born 30 October 1990[1]) is an Australian television presenter best known for her role as a host on Australian children's television program Studio 3, which is on ABC3.[2]
Personal life
Amberley was born in Western Australia to Brazilian immigrants. Her television career began in 2009 after she was selected from a nationwide search conducted by the ABC.[3] Amberley graduated from Rossmoyne Senior High School in Perth, Western Australia in 2007 and joined the West Australian Police Force where she worked as a Police Cadet fighting crime.[3] After the streets were safe she attended Curtin University where she studied journalism. Amberley was crowned Face of Perth 2008.[3]
Career
In 2009 the ABC launched a nationwide campaign called Me On 3, which was looking for fresh personalities to become the face of a new digital kids channel, ABC 3.[4] The competition was entered by over 5700 people Australia-wide.[3] Amberley was selected along with Kayne Tremills to be the face of the channel and host its flagship show Studio 3.
As well as Studio 3, during her time with the ABC Amberley also hosted The World Animal Championships and Wacky World Beaters (sold worldwide)– all of which saw her become a permanent daily fixture on Australian TV. She worked on the 2010 Schools Spectacular with her co-host Kayne Tremills and John Foreman. Amberley Lobo guest hosted The Loop in mid-2013. [5]
In 2013 Amberley came second in the Nagasaki Speed Eating World Championships.
Amberley is currently on air in the UK hosting the BBC show ‘Pop Slam’. The show is in its second series. She is the solo host, which sees her pitting top bands and singers against each other, including One Direction, Taylor Swift, Cheryl Cole and The Arctic Monkeys. As well as airing in the UK, the show has been pre-sold in numerous countries. Amberley was also snapped up to present in the CBBC ‘Office’, a live morning show for children that airs daily on CBBC.
During the 2014 FIFA World Cup Amberley was a part of the BBC Alternative commentary team.
In addition to television, Amberley is sports mad and has been affiliated with Cricket Australia as their youth ambassador. In her work with Cricket Australia she has been the face of the Milo In2Cricket kids development program, created online content for the program, MC’ed the KFC T20 Big Bash Series, been a member of the commentary team for the live coverage of the Women’s International T20 series, MC’ed internal stakeholder events, and been an official correspondent for both the Alan Border Medal and Ashes Tours. Amberley has also worked for the Melbourne Renegade (boundary riding and vox pops) during the Big Bash season and engaged fans both young and old.
