American Presbyterian Church (founded 1979)

For the major denomination, see Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
For the second major denomination, see Presbyterian Church in America.

The American Presbyterian Church was formed in 1979[1] by 5 ministers who were separated from the Bible Presbyterian Church, when it dissolved the BPC Philadelphia Presbytery. Three congregations were established. These churches are premillennialist,[2] and demand of their members the abstinence of alcohol. In worship they sing psalms only. The Westminster Confession of Faith and the Heidelberg Catechism are accepted.[3][1] Now the denomination consists of two congregations, in Bordentown, N.J. and Westminster, Maryland.[4]
