Founded in 1962, the American School of Milan (ASM) is an independent educational institution located on the outskirts of Milan, Italy.
The school offers instruction in English from Early Childhood through High School and ASM's student body is composed of children from more than 50 nations.
School system
Today the school has over 735 students aged 3-18 enrolled in different schools / programs:
- Early Childhood: ages 3-4
- Elementary School: Grades K - 5
- Middle School: Grades 6 - 8
- High School: Grades 9 - 12
The faculty is mainly American as are the Elementary and Upper School Principals who lead each school. The Upper School faculty also includes a Guidance Counselor and a College and University Counselor.
Affiliations and accreditations
ASM has been an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School since June 1983. It offers the Diploma Programme (DP) in grades 11-12.
ASM is a member of the European Council of International Schools and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Technology
All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and there is wi-fi throughout the school. In the Elementary school, students use netbooks with touch screens, and from Grade 6 and up, students are required to bring a laptop to school every day.
