Amit L. Kochavi is an Israeli entrepreneur better known as the founder of GroopMeUp and Tech Lounge who has received media attention for his ventures and his initiative to change the education system from Israeli news platforms like Israel HaYom among others.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Career

According to Israel HaYom, Amit started his career at the age of 14 by launching his first business venture to help his grandmother to use a computer. This consisted of a website guide called Shmoogle it that was a compilation of internet basics including how to use google, open up a facebook account and send emails.[1]

In his 10th grade when he realized that Shmoogle it was not able to target senior citizen users above the age of 70, he dropped the project and developed an actual application, GroopMeUp, that would serve as a Social network.[1]

Amit spent his 10th grade summer vacation interning with Los Angeles based Startengine, an incubator founded by, Howard Marks, the co-founder of Activision.[1] His second major venture, Tech Lounge, is aimed at establishing entrepreneurial incubators in high school to promote entrepreneurship among young innovators by giving them the opportunity to meet mentors like Gigi Levy-Weiss, Guy Gamzu and Nathan Intrator who are already experienced in the respective fields.[7][8][9] As a part of DLD 2014, Amit Kochavi has been listed as a mentor and a speaker at Startup Pirates.[10][11]

Amit is also cited to have taken an initiative and developing ideas that aim at influencing and changing the matriculation tests that are used to grade students in the current Israeli education system.[12][13][14] The project intends to garner support from fellow students all over the country to develop new ideas and alternatives that can then be taken up with ministry of education.[4]

Two other projects he has founded are Tech Lift[15] and Elostir.[16]
