Amonetize
Amonetize (or Amonitize, Adware.Win32.Amonetize.heur) is the Basic name of a specific IT-Adware Threat (or a PUA (Potentially Unwanted Application) or PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program)).
In the first Quarter of 2014, it was ranked number 6 in the top 10 Malwarelist, with 0.21% of all attacks worldwide, according to Securelist from Kaspersky Labs.[1]
Although the Amonetize-Apps may have legitimate uses in some cases, it is very often used for malicious purposes; or can be. Amonetize is often misspelled as a Virus or a Trojan, neither is the Case.[2]
A PUA is often bundeled (packed: .RAR or .ZIP files) in combination with other harmless or legal Applications or Programs.
