Amphidiscosa is "an order of hexactinellid sponges...characterized by amphidisc spicules, that is, spicules having a stellate disk at each end".[1] They are in the class Hexactinellida and the subclass Amphidiscophora[2]<<broken reference>> The creatures have been existing since the Ordovician period, and still flourishing today."[3]
