Amrapali Institute – Lamachaur

The oldest of the Institute Buildings

The Amrapali Institute that initially started as a single institute has grown into a leading group of institutes offering quality higher professional education in the Nainital District of Uttarakhand. Amrapali Institutes are promoted by the Modern Academy Society, in Modinagar. The founding society's agenda is overseen by the Chief Executive Officer, Professor Sanjay Dhingra. Appreciating the difficulties faced by the youth of the area and also due to the paucity of suitable professional institutes in the Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand, the Management decided to set up the Amrapali Institute at Lamachaur, Nainital, the gateway to the Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand. The aim of the institute is to provide and promote Graduate and Post Graduate level quality professional education for the new generation of future executives. It is the first affiliated and approved Institute in the Kumaun region offering technology, management, education, computer science, and hospitality industry courses beginning at the graduate level.

The institute believes that the quality of educational programs and services should not be measured by the hours that a student sits in a classroom, but rather through self study, laboratory and field projects, evaluation of student learning and other student outcomes. The Institute continuously endeavors to improve the quality of its higher professional education programs and educational services that support the student from entrance to graduation and into the workplace. To enhance student learning the Institute incorporates authentic assessment, which allows students to demonstrate their skills through the completion of real world, professional projects that can be used to nurture the learner's development of the knowledge and skills required in the 21st century workplace.

Surroundings

A typical view of Surroundings

Adjacent to the world-renowned Corbett Tiger Reserve, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, lies Kumaon’s premier professional institutes, the Amrapali Institutes that include the Amrapali Institute of Technology and Sciences (AITS). Located at Lamachaur in the Bhabhar region of Nainital it is distant enough from the urban crowd to provide students a peaceful environment and lush green surroundings with a serene view of the Nainital Himalayas that is conducive to study yet close enough for them to access the benefits of urban infrastructure. The primary reason for creation of the state of Uttarakhand, around a decade ago, was the vocal expression of discontent by the local population, which felt that it was not benefiting from nation’s general growth and development. Amrapali Group of Institutions, which came into being at around the same time, was an attempt to address this general complaint in the field of higher education.
