Ancistrus hoplogenys is a species of armored catfish native to Argentina, Brazil, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and Uruguay. This species grows to a length of 15.8 centimetres (6.2 in) SL. In the aquarium hobby this fish is also known as L059
