André du Pisani
André du Pisani (born 15 January 1949, in Windhoek) is a Namibian political scientist. Du Pisani has been a professor at the University of Namibia since 1998. Pisani has managed the Southern African Defence and Security Management Network (SADSEM) (Namibia) for the past decade and is the country coordinator of the Volkswagen Foundation multinational research project on reconciliation, post-conflict reconstruction and peace in Southern Africa for the past 3 years. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Namibian Studies and is a trustee of the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), the Tulipamwe Arts Trust and the John Muafangejo Art Centre, and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).[1]
Education
The Windhoek native earned his bachelor's degree from Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 1971 and an honours in politics from Stellenbosch in 1972. He later earned a master's degree in politics from Stellenbosch in 1975. From 1975-76, du Pisani was a research student at the London School of Economics. In 1988, he earned his Ph.D. in politics from the University of Cape Town. From 1995-96, he did post-doctoral research through the Global Security Fellows Initiative at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.[2]
