Andrew Kortina
Andrew Kortina is a New York City-based entrepreneur best known for co-founding the company Venmo with Iqram Magdon-Ismail.[1] Venmo was acquired by Braintree in 2012,[2] and is now part of PayPal.[3]
Career
Kortina studied at the University of Pennsylvania, where he met his future Venmo co-founder when they were randomly paired as freshman roommates.[4] The pair founded Venmo in 2009 with the goal of letting users exchange money via SMS and smartphones.[5] In 2010, the pair was named to Inc Magazine's 30under30.[6] Prior to Venmo, Andrew Kortina worked at bit.ly and OMGPop,[7] which was later acquired by Zynga.[8] As a technologist, he has participated in the Rhizome Seven on Seven.[9][10]
