Andrew Susman is an American businessman. He is the co-founder of Studio One Networks. His company has been called “one of, if not the pioneer in the field of digital content marketing services,”[1] now a $46 billion dollar industry. He lives mainly in Manhattan and the Midwest.
Career
As CEO of Studio One Networks, Susman built a network of over 2500 websites through major portals including AOL, Yahoo!, NBC, CBS, FOX, and ABC. Studio One clients included the world’s most sophisticated marketers – Procter & Gamble, Home Depot, American Express, Kellogg’s and Ford among them.[2] Under Susman’s leadership, Studio One also created new technology to help companies attract customers and generate higher returns from their marketing investments.[3]
On October 7, 2014, Susman’s company Studio One Networks was acquired by CHR Group Holdings,[4] where Susman operated as President of Studio One and a Partner of CHR.
Susman serves on the Advertising Educational Foundation Board of Directors,[5] a unit of the Association of National Advertisers. Susman is the Founding Chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Content Marketing Task Force,[6] a trade group of more than 50 leading interactive companies that sets standards, influences public policy and provides training and development.[5] Prior to creating Studio One, Susman was Director of Business Development for Time Inc. New Media and an executive at Young & Rubicam.
Recently, Susman returned to the agency business as head of a new New York office of Cincinnati-based Empower Media Marketing,[7] a family-owned media services agency known for its independence and its Midwestern roots. Susman serves as Vice President [8] in charge of New York operations.
Early life
Susman was born into the Susman family of St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Frank Susman[9] (Susman, Schermer, Rimmel & Shifrin), who is the only attorney in history to have argued two unrelated cases before the U.S. Supreme Court on the same day;[10][11] Planned Parenthood of Central Missouri v. Danforth, 428 U.S. 52 (1976) [12]) Mr. Susman’s mother, Marilyn Susman is a retired Professor of Psychology [13] and Fulbright Scholar with the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Mr. Susman’s grandfather, Earl Susman (Susman, Schermer, Rimmel & Schifrin) was of counsel on Shelley vs. Kraemer,[14] a landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling, which made housing discrimination illegal. He also served as President of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.[15]
In addition to the Supreme Court, the family has also participated in two Anglo-American courts. Notable family members include Louis Susman, the former Ambassador to the Court of St. James (United Kingdom), nominated by Barack Obama, and Karen Hantze Susman, who won the 1962 women’s singles title at Wimbledon and also won three Grand Slam women’s doubles titles, Billie Jean King.
Susman graduated from Brown University, with a B.A in Ethics and Political Philosophy and studied under J.L. Ackrill, Fellow of the British Academy, and Peter Birks, Regius Professor of Civil Law at Oxford University. Susman earned a Diploma of Business Studies at the London School of Economics, where he served as class president.
Personal life
Susman has previously served on the Board of Partnership with Children and the Board of Business for Diplomatic Action, [16] as well as Chairman of the Internet Content Syndication Council. Susman is a certified sharpshooter and major supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
