Andrew Zeller (born 1993) is a guard for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for The University of Maryland Terrapins.

Early years

Zeller attended Red Lion High School in Pennsylvania where he played on both sides of the line. In his senior year of high school, he led his team to the quarterfinals in Pennsylvania class 4A posting 32 solo tackles, 27 assists, 14 tackles for loss, five sacks and five pass breakups on the year. He was considered a 3 star recruit by Rivals.com[1] receiving offers from Oregon, Duke, and Rutgers among others.

College career

Started 31 games at Right Guard for The University of Maryland (Played in 47 of 50 Games)

As a freshman in 2011, he served a redshirt season.

As a redshirt Freshman, he played in nine games and started in three of them. In those starts he helped Maryland gain 244 yards of total offense against Wake Forest on (10/6) and helped Maryland gain 235 yards against Virginia on (10/13) and started on the line that led Maryland to 188 yards rushing against North Carolina on (11/24).

As a Sophomore (2013): Appeared in all 13 games and started at right guard in the final three games ... opened holes for C.J. Brown’s 122 rushing yards at Virginia Tech (11/16) ... cleared lanes for Brown to rush for a season-high 138 yards at NC State (11/30) ... helped Brandon Ross rush for 116 yards against Marshall in the Military Bowl (12/27).

As a Junior (2014): An All-Big Ten Academic selection … started all 13 games at right guard … led an offensive line that totaled 285 yards and five touchdowns on the ground against James Madison (8/30) … helped the offense total 447 yards of offense against West Virginia (9/15) … pass protected for C.J. brown as he threw for a season-best 361 yards and three touchdowns at Indiana (9/27) … allowed five rushers to total 212 yards and three touchdowns against Iowa (10/18) … helped C.J. Brown rush for 87 yards and a score at Michigan (11/22) … part of a Maryland offense that totaled 476 yards of offense, including 281 yards rushing, against Rutgers (11/29).

As a Senior (2015): Started all 12 games at right guard... an Academic All-Big Ten selection ... helped Maryland offense total 182.5 rushing yards/g - most since 2003 ... Terps totaled eclipsed 2,000 rushing yards for the first time since 2011 ... helped running back Brandon Ross lead Big Ten with 6.4 yards per carry and an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten nod ... Maryland had five games with more than 200 rushing yards, including 715 rushing yards over the last two games of the season ... helped team gain 401 rushing yards in season finale victory at Rutgers (11/28) - the first time the team had eclipsed 400 yards since 1999 ... helped Perry Hills run for a Maryland quarterback record 170 yards at #1 Ohio State (10/10).

Professional Career

On April 30, Andrew Zeller agreed to sign with the Detroit Lions after going undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft . [2]

Education

Andrew graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice from The University of Maryland in the fall of 2014. He completed his undergraduate degree in 3.5 years. Andrew then went on to complete his master's degree in Supply Chain Management from The University of Maryland, graduating in the spring of 2016.
