Early life

Career
Scanlon has worked as a stylist and a journalist, before moving into television. Scanlon worked as a stylist and fashion journalist writing for Tatler, Grazia, Company, U Magazine, Sunday Times Style. She also writes a column ‘Out of the Closet’ [3] for The Irish Independent Weekend Magazine. Recognised for her style she has been featured in magazines including Vogue, Elle Japan, Sunday Times Style, Company and TWIN.
In 2012, The Irish Times announced Scanlon as one of '10 Irish Instagrammers You Need to Follow’.[4] An exciting and unique new talent, Scanlon was named as the ‘One to Watch’ by Vogue[5] in 2013 and has been cited in The Observer's regular Why We’re Watching[6] feature as the UK's new onscreen fashion queen. The Daily Telegraph also commended Angela's talents in Who’s That Girl.[7] In 2013, she fronted a campaign for Louis Vuitton.[8]
Following on from stints on fashion shows Xposé and Off the Rails for RTÉ and a spell giving Tim Lovejoy advice on ‘stuff she liked’ on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, Scanlon went on to join RTÉ’s The Movie Show[9] as a reporter and gave advice to so-called hopeless singletons to find romance in the Love Clinic in 2012. Scanlon appeared on the popular The Saturday Night Show with host Brendan O'Connor, in 2013 and 2014.
Scanlon joined an all-male cast on the panel of Next Week's News[10] in February 2014 and also put together a Yahoo! 12-part series ‘Work the Look’[11] demonstrating how to pull off key essential looks.
Her first major documentary Oi Ginger! was broadcast in 2014 to critical acclaim, and trended worldwide on Twitter. Angela Scanlon: Full Frontal[12] was her follow-up series airing in October 2014, taking subjects that are often considered taboo, tackling with her own unique flair. Scanlon was featured on Republic of Telly's Ginger is the New Black in October 2014.[13]
2014 also saw Angela take to the main stage to host London Fashion Weekend for a third time, a job she took over from Caroline Flack after hosting the Vodafone Live Lounge for the British Fashion Council at the event for two years. Scanlon co-hosts BBC Northern Ireland/RTÉ's popular holiday programme, Getaways having taken over from Aoibhinn ní Shúilleabháin. Scanlon also launched Marks & Spencer's pop-up Halloween shop with Joanna Lumley in aid of Oxfam.[14]
In 2016, she became a reporter on The One Show. On 3 February 2016, it was announced that Scanlon would co-present the revived series of Robot Wars alongside Dara Ó Briain.[15]
