Anjuman Talaba-e-Islam (Urdu: انجمن طلباء اسلام , Anjuman Talaba-e-Islam (ATI) is an independent Sunni Barelvi student organization. Anjuman Talaba-e-Islam was established on January 20, 1968 C.E founded by Jameel Ahmed Naimi Shb at Karachi, after changing the name of Anjuman-e-Muhiban-e-Islam (1962) to help create equality amongst Muslim students.

It was established to counter growing influence of Wahhabisim and Socialism, Communism, Racism & anti Islamic's students organization in the college campuses. [1].[1] Anjuman Talaba e Islam is the only student representative of Pakistan's dominant majority Sunni school of thought although very popular in student. It was established to counter growing influence of Wahhabi and Jamat-e-Islami's students organization in the college campuses and universities.[2]

Motto

"To awaken the actual spirit of Islam in the hearts of students which is impossible without enlightening the torch of the love of Prophet (Peace be upon him)."

Aims & Objectives

Anjuman Talaba e Islam started with the view of awakening the spirit of Islam in the hearts of students. For this objective, the workers of ATI did not choose the thoughts of any specific Political or Religious Leader but used the ideology of the Love of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) as their guiding light. They choose their destination to be the path followed by the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and they were determined to make Islam a worldwide success.

Anjuman Talaba e Islam began its mission by introducing the Islamic way of teaching and raising the standard of education, providing solutions to the problems of students, peaceful education and safe guarding the sacredness of educational institutes. Anjuman Talaba e Islam is against the discrimination of students on the basis of wealth, creed and race. It preaches unity of the nation and worked for the stability and building of Pakistan. The main aim is to free the students from the clutches of the political parties which were exploiting the students to their own benefits. The famous lawyer, S.M.Zafar puts it into words :

"Anjuman Talaba e Islam is not working on the charismatic personality of an individual, but is working for the cause of Islam".

Ideology

The ideology of Anjuman Talaba e Islam is the ideology of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), His faithful companions and the various Ulemas and Sufis.

It is the first organization, which disseminates the belief of any individual, but it is the first organization, which is based on the belief that the Love of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) is the foundation of Islam. Before Anjuman Talaba-e-Islam, the various organizations and the enemies of Islam made it their point to remove this belief from the hearts of students. With the advent of Anjuman Talaba e Islam, students gained the true concept of Prophet hood and the importance of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), as it should be. It is the main objective of Anjuman Talaba-e-Islam to enlighten the Torch of the Love of our Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) in the hearts of students. No other organization could give an explanation as to why this fundamental principle had been ignored by them in their constitutions.

System

According to the constitution of Anjuman Talaba e Islam there is a complete framework under which all the activities take place. To enforce the constitution there are various checks placed on all levels. There is a committee called Majlis e Mushawarat. The training of the activists is according to the constitution and is a unique feature of Anjuman Talaba e Islam. A single individual cannot change the constitution of the organization. Only the majority of members (Arakeen) can amend it. Anjuman Talaba e Islam's Majlis e Mushawarat has 29 members and the Central Cabinet consists of 17 senior members. Anjuman Talaba e Islam has its own training system. The students pass through following levels:

Hamdard - Karkun - Ameen - Rukan

After passing through the above levels the workers finally reach to the positions of the members of Majlis e Mushawarat. At all levels there is a syllabus to be followed. In addition to the syllabus there are two main monthly magazines "Nishan e Manzil" and "Nawa e Anjuman" along with other periodic magazines which play a major role in the character building of the activists.

Anjuman Talaba e Islam has a complete process of accountability on all levels. According to this process, even the president and other central leaders are accountable before Majlis e Mushawarat. The accountability gatherings of Anjuman Talaba e Islam are unique. These gatherings prove to be very informative and help the activists to maintain a positive attitude.
