Ants on a log
Ants on a log is a snack made by spreading cream cheese or peanut butter or almond butter on celery and placing raisins on top. The snack name was first used in the 1950s.[1] The peanut butter version of ants on a log is recommended as a healthy snack by the McKinley Health Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.[2] There are numerous variations of ants on a log, including:
- Gnats on a log: currants[3]
- Ants on vacation: without "ants", or no raisins[2]
- Ants on a Slip 'n Slide: add honey on top of the peanut butter before adding raisins[4]
- Bees in the trees: yellow Reese's Pieces in broccoli florettes
