He spent five years as a student of the Military Academy and served as officer of the Yugoslav People's Army till 31 December 1990, when he retired in the rank of colonel, as Head Officer of the Military Archives of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, with the title of Senior Researcher in Military History. In the fall of 1959 he started studying history at the University.

After having written his research work :"The development of the National Liberation Movement in Slavonia 1941-1943" on September 1, 1964 he was transferred to the Military Historical Institute and was promoted to Senior Researcher in Military History. The University of Pristina promoted him to Master of Arts on the ground of his research work in the history of Second World War in Yugoslavia, and particularly on the ground of his books on the Jasenovac concentration camp and his title of Senior Researcher and approved his application to defend his doctor's thesis entitled : "wehrmacht and the partisan War". He was one of the most active members of the committee of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts for the collection of documents on the genocide against Serbs and other peoples in Yugoslavia, in the 20th century, from 1986 to 1994, when the committee ceased its work. He was a member of the Historical committee of the Russell's Tribunal for Yugoslavia. He is a founding member and Chairman of the Association for Research into Genocide and the war crimes, founded in Belgrade. For many years he was a collaborator and friend of Vladimir Dedijer, President of the Russell's Tribunal. Dedijer dedicated to Miletić his book :" The Vatican and Jasenovac" and expressed him his "deepest gratitude" for his work on the history of the Jasenovac concentration camp 1941-1945. So far, Antun Miletić has published 24 books, over 60 papers and dozens of articles and serials in daily and weekly press. He has also participated in numerous other projects as collaborator, editor, reviewer and member of editorial boards, Presently, he is Chairman of the Advisory Board Jasenovac, Research Institute, Brooklyn, New York.[1] His historical work on WWII is today regarded with some skepticism, as his calculated death toll for the main Croatian concentration camp was more than 10 times the maximum range currently accepted by the US Holocaust memorial museum and almost all other modern sources.
