Plot

Remakes

Anuraga Aralithu was remade as Mannan in Tamil starring Rajinikanth, Kushboo Sundar, Manorama, Pandari Bai, Goundamani, Vijayashanti and Visu. Then it was remade in Telugu as Gharana Mogudu a film with Chiranjeevi and Nagma in the lead roles. The movie was directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and was a sensational hit. It was released on 9 April 1992. The movie was the first Telugu film to gross over 100 million rupees. It made Chiranjeevi the highest-paid actor in India and led India Today to caption its story, "Bigger Than Bachchan".[2] [3]

It was again re-made in Hindi as Laadla in which Anil Kapoor and Sridevi played the lead roles. Sridevi's role was originally given to actress Divya Bharti, but due to her death on 1993 she was replaced by Sridevi. This version was not as commercially successful as its Southern predecessors.
