Anurogryllus (from the Greek an ("without") -uro ("tail") and the Latin gryllus ("cricket"), commonly known as short-tailed crickets, is a genus of crickets in family Gryllidae. The common and scientific names derive from the vestigial, poorly developed ovipositors of females.[2][3]
