National Archives of Chile

Archivo Nacional de Chile, Santiago de Chile

The National Archives of Chile (in Spanish: Archivo Nacional de Chile) are located in Santiago. They were created in 1927, but originated in 1887.

Location

The building housing the National Archives is located at 50 Miraflores Street, downtown Santiago. It, built between 1915 and 1935 in the neoclassical style,[1] is attached to the building housing the Biblioteca Nacional de Chile. The building occupies a blockfront between Avenida Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins and Moneda Street, and faces the Santa Lucía Hill. The building was originally designed to house the Chilean National History Museum, which was moved to its current location in 1982. Since that year the building has served as the home for the National Archives.[1]
