Ardkinglas Castle
Ardkinglas Castle formerly stood on the shore of Loch Fyne, Argyllshire, Scotland. The castle was built in the form of a quadrangle around an inner courtyard measuring 98 ft in each direction. There were large turrets on three of the corners, to the front there was a large gate tower with two flanking defensive turrets. It was surrounded by beautiful gardens and parkland and the vast Ardkinglas estate.
By 1769 the castle was reported destroyed.
In 1790 a new large Georgian mansion was built in the classical Palladian style with 66 windows, designed by the architects Robert Adam and later James Playfair.[1][2]
