Arjun Maini

Arjun Maini (born 10 December 1997)[1] is a Formula 3 racing driver from India. As of 2015 he drives for Van Amersfoort Racing.[2]

Early life

Arjun Maini comes from a family of racers. His brother Kush Maini is an established karting driver, and his father Gautam raced in the National Racing Championship in the late 1990s, at the Formula India Single Seater Maruti Engine.[3][4] The teenager first fell in love with motorsport when his father gave him an electric car.

The teenager idolises Sebastian Vettel and in his free time enjoys wrestling, cycling, fitness activities and video editing.[5]

Career

Maini won his first race in September 2007. At 10, he became the MRF MAII Rotax Mini Max National Champion 2007.[1] In 2010 he became the J.K. Tyre Rotax Max Junior Vice-Champion while registering the Most number of fastest laps.[1]

In 2011 he won the Force India Formula One squad's 'one-from-a-billion' talent hunt, which had a jury including Anthony Hamilton, Nico Hulkenberg and Eddie Jordan.[4] He also won the JK Tyre FMSCI Junior Max National Karting Champion in India, the AKOC race in Macau, Ask KF3 Race in Elite, Malaysia and was declared Second overall in the AKS Malaysian Championship 2011.[1]

Maini came second in JK Tyre Racing Series championship in 2014 with two race wins. Later that year he won the Asian Super 6 Seri, the WSK Euro and the Master Karting in KF category.[1]
