Armen Vardapetyan (VAR) (Armenian: Արմեն Ռուբենի Վարդապետյան), jeweler, artist, sculptor. Armenian folk artist of applied art.

Biography

Born on 23 January 1980 in Yerevan, Armenia. Graduate № 71 secondary school by N.Stepanyan in 1996. Since 1990 educated in National aesthetic school named by Genrih Igityan as sculpture of small forms.

In 1996 he entered the Armenian Agricultural Academy at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. From 2001 -2004 was a postgraduate student in the Armenian Agricultural Academy and defended PhD thesis. From 2006 to the present day works at Yerevan State University.

Career

Armen Vardapetyan lifelong was engaged in creative work: sculpture, painting, creation of jewellery. He worked with different materials. Since 2008, began studying jewelry art, exhibit and sell his works under the stage name VAR (translated from the Armenian language – bright, colorful). Since 2010 has became a folk artist of Armenia. He is a member of the Armenian Jewelers Association. VAR jewellery is available in art galleries of Armenia, Russia and Europe. Nowadays VAR is working to create a jewelry collection in national style named "Kilicia".[1]
