Arresto facto super bonis mercatorum alienigenorum

Arresto facto super bonis mercatorum alienigenorum (literally, "Stoppage made upon the goods of a foreign merchant"), in English law, was a writ against the Personal property of aliens found in the country, as compensation for goods taken from a denizen in a foreign country, after he was denied restitution there.

Among ancient civilians, this was called clarigatio, and later barbarously reprisalia.
