Savage acquired the Vancouver Canadians, based in British Columbia, and moved them south to Sacramento soon after.

Born in Amarillo, Texas,[2] Savage died of lung cancer on November 21, 2009.[3] His son, Jeff, said that he and his family would retain control of the team.

Personal

Savage's son Brent was rescued from a swimming pool accident when he was a child, which left him permanently unable to walk or physically function properly. He has since used a wheelchair. It also left Brent unable to speak, forcing him to use a communicator.
