Ashton-on-Mersey School is a non-selective secondary school and sixth form located in Ashton upon Mersey, Sale, Trafford, England.

The school is an academy, part of The Dean Trust which includes Broadoak School and Forest Gate Academy in Partington and Lord Derby Academy in Huyton. Ashton-on-Mersey School serves about 1,278 students aged 11 to 18, and is a larger than average school. Ofsted has been graded "Outstanding" across four inspections, a rare achievement considering the school fulfills the role of a 'Secondary Modern' within the 11+ borough of Trafford.

Academia

In 2011, 91% of pupils achieved 5A*-C, 61% achieved 5A*-C including English and Maths. 80% of pupils achieved 2+ A*-C in Science. 99% of pupils left with 5A*-G. 98% of pupils left with 1+ A*-C. 35% of pupils left with 3+ A*-A.

Sports college

Ashton on Mersey became a specialist sports college in 1998. One of its main sponsors is Manchester United Football Club.[1]

Gymnasium

The school's gymnasium is open to the public after school on weekends and holidays. It offers various sorts of sports. Within the last few years, a climbing wall has been installed which can be hired for children's parties.

Uniform

The school uniform consists of a Burgundy blazer with the school emblem, which can be worn with badges pupils are awarded through subjects, sport achievements or their school role i.e. School Council, Head Boy/Girl etc. Girls' uniform consists of the school blazer, skirt or trousers, grey with maroon piping (Yrs 7-9) or plain black tailored with maroon piping (Yrs 10-11), a white blouse, the school tie, or if taking the role of Head Girl or Prefect a silver tie is given to be worn. Socks must be black and black tights can be worn in winter. The school has a grey jumper or vest with the school name on which can be worn during the winter, but must be worn with the blazer. Shoes must be plain black, flat heeled. smooth soles (boots, trainers and platform shoes are not allowed). The boys' uniform consists of the school blazer, black tailored trousers, a white shirt, the school tie or if taking the role of Head Boy or Prefect a silver tie is given to be worn. Socks must be dark colours. Shoes must be plain black, smooth soles (boots and trainers are not allowed). The schools grey jumper or vest with the school name on it can be worn during the winter, but must be worn with the blazer.

Awards

The school has many awards including Charter Mark and Investor People.
