About

While the main focus of the At Home Music Academy is learning to read music and play songs, their modern teaching approach balances traditional fundamentals with complimentary studies that nurture the students' artistic, creative relationship with their instrument. The At Home Music Academy covers many aspects of music education including note reading, music theory, scales and chords, ear training, and improvisation. Lesson content spans musical genres like classical, rock, country, jazz and R&B.

History

The At Home Music Academy was founded in 2007 by Ken Moran, a Los Angeles-based woodwind player and music teacher. After discovering his passion for teaching kids and students of all ages the exciting world of music, Ken founded the At Home Music Academy in an effort to make music education more easily accessible for students and more convenient for families. The goal of the At Home Music Academy is to promote music education and learning on every instrument through the highest quality in-home music instruction. Not only are Music and the Arts are an important part of our education, but research has shown that studying music can help improve cognitive learning abilities and studies in other subject areas.[3]

Benefits of In-Home Instruction

With the diminishing support for music education in schools, parents and students alike are turning to private music instruction through local music stores and independent companies like the At Home Music Academy. In-home lessons have become increasingly popular in today's fast paced and car cultured society. In-home music lessons also allow for students to learn in the most comfortable and familiar environment of their home. Being in a comfortable environment is especially necessary for children learning a creative artform, allowing the mind to relax and take in the most possible information. Furthermore, parents are able to spend more time with their kids and, if concerned, can monitor their child's progress and the teacher's lessons more easily.
