These are the official results of the Men's Shot Put event at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. There were a total number of 36 competitors, with twelve athletes reaching the final. The event took place on July 26, 1996.

In 1998, gold medalist Randy Barnes was tested positive for androstenedione (an over-the-counter supplement famously used by Mark McGwire), and was subsequently suspended from competition in the Olympic Games for life. On August 7 1990 Barnes was banned from competing for 27 months(including 1992 Olympics) after testing positive for the anabolic steroid methyltestosterone at a competition in Malmö, Sweden. Despite this, his result from the Atlanta is officially accepted, because there is no known positive result from this games, and according to "innocent until caught at that moment" rule he can keep his medal.
