Competition schedule

Venue for the track and field events will be held at João Havelange Stadium, while the race walks and marathon start and finish in Flamengo Park and Sambódromo, respectively. Apart from the race walks and marathon, ten track and field events will hold finals in the morning session for the first time since 1988. This has been implemented upon the request of the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee and the Olympic Broadcasting Service to be supported by the International Olympic Committee, ensuring that they receive maximum visibility for the sport across all time zones.[2][3]
