Atlas Preparatory School is a middle school and high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado.'
Awards, recognition and rankings
- Atlas Preparatory School was honored by the Colorado Department of Education as a "Center of Excellence" in 2010.[1]
- Atlas Preparatory School won the 2013 winner of the Julie and Spencer Penrose Award through El Pomar Foundation, which included a $75,000 grant. In 2014, the El Pomar Foundation made a $750,000 award to Atlas Prep in recognition of its continued efforts for special education and low-income students.[2]
Campus
Colorado College donated weight training room equipment in 2013. Football equipment and sports were donated in 2013. The middle school students built a small garden. In 2014, it purchased an old General dynamics building for its high school. In 2015, Atlas High school built a College and career center providing students the help they need to get into college. In 2015, a food pantry in the middle school had been built to provide food for those who are misfortunate. The new $1 million synthetic turf was finished Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015 near the middle school will enable both middle and high school students for hosting home soccer and football games and also have gym classes. This is the second field at the school; Colorado College donated their artificial field to Atlas Prep in place for their new field. A new computer lab upstairs in the high school was finished two months ago.
Atlas Preparatory School is 8.6 acres in area with a building acquired for about $3 million. In 2014, it purchased an old General dynamics building for its high school. It had a soccer field built in 2015.
