DAttariya is a Municipality in Kailali District in the Seti Zone of western Nepal. The municipality was established on 18 May 2014 merging the existing Malakheti, Sripur, Beladevipur, Geta Village development committees.[1][2]

Transport

Attariya is gateway of Far west Nepal. The Mahendra Highway and Bhimdatta highway meet at the Attariya making a transport hub in the region. Attraiya is about 600 km far from Kathmandu, 15 km far from Dhangadhi, 40 km from Mahendranagar and 120 km far from Dadeldhura. Buses are the main mode of transport. Magic van, Tempo, Taxi serve as means of local transportation. Nepal's second largest airport i.e. Dhangadhi Airport lies in the Attariya Municipality ward no.11. Buddha Air, Yeti Air and Nepal Airlines provide regular flight service from Kathmandu.

Census

Total population of Attariya Municipality is 72,521, among 34,634 are male and 37,887 are female. Chetree is the dominant caste with 22,682 individual followed by Tharu Ethnic group with 22,077. Brahmin Ranked third with 12,315. Dalits account significant number with population size 10,972 and 3775 are considered as other caste/ethnic group residing in the municipality. The male to female sex-ratio is 91.41. Total 13,745 household are there with household size 5.27.[3]

Education

Development of significant number of School and colleges in Attariya led far western Nepal to become an educational hub. Durga Laxmi Multiple Camus offers various courses on Arts, Commerce and education up to Post Graduate level. Sarawati International model high school is renowned for its quality school level education. Recently it was awarded by British Council for its educational excellence. Geta Eye hospital offers diploma in ophthalmology. The proposed Dhangadi Medical College which is in ward no.12 is under construction and will offer many course in Medical sciences in future.

Media

To promote local culture Attariya has one FM radio station Godawari FM 87.9 MHz.
