Auchinleck railway station is a railway station in the town of Auchinleck, East Ayrshire, Scotland. The station is managed by Abellio ScotRail and is on the Glasgow South Western Line. It is also the nearest station to the larger town of Cumnock.
History
The station was opened on 9 August 1848 by the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway,[1] then joining the Glasgow and South Western Railway it became part of the London Midland and Scottish Railway during the Grouping of 1923. Passing on to the Scottish Region of British Railways during the nationalisation of 1948, it was then closed to passengers by the British Railways Board on 6 December 1965. It was reopened on 12 May 1984.[1]
Services 2015
On Monday to Saturday daytimes, There are 10 trains a day in each direction, 10 go to Glasgow and 9 go to Carlisle (three extend to Newcastle) while the last service terminates at Dumfries. On Sundays, only 2 trains per day operate to both Carlisle and Glasgow.
