Aulonocara nyassae, known as the emperor cichlid, is a species of freshwater fish in the Cichlidae family that is endemic to Lake Malawi.[1]
The name emperor cichlid has also been applied to Boulengerochromis microlepis of Lake Tanganyika, more commonly known as the giant cichlid.[2]
