Aurigo Software[1] is a global software company that provides cloud based capital program and project portfolio management software solutions for large capital infrastructure owners in the public and private sector industries. Aurigo is headquartered in Austin, Texas with offices in New York, Toronto, and Bangalore. Aurigo's also maintains project offices for some of its strategic customers at Calgary, Portland and Denver.Aurigo has been a lot in the news since 2013 for major wins against the Oracle Unifier suite.[2] Aurigo has entered into long term multimillion dollar engagements with large capital program owners in North America including Colorado DOT,[3] Utah DOT,[4] Oregon DOT, Port of Portland,[5] TransCanada[6] and a host of others.

History

Aurigo was founded in 2003 by Balaji Sreenivasan[7] as an enterprise software product company to plan and manage capital programs . Throughout the first decade of the 21st century, Aurigo expanded its solution into a fully integrated cloud based capital program management life-cycle suite, presently branded as Aurigo Masterworks. The company was initially headquartered in New York, and moved its headquarters to Austin, Texas in 2013. Aurigo is closely held by its management and employees. Aurigo is a Red Herring 100[8] company and has been named one of the top innovators in the world by Microsoft.[9]

Aurigo's CEO Balaji Sreenivasan founded Aurigo in 2003 along with Deepak Pulipati, and was instrumental in securing its Series A round of funding of $10.5 Million. Balaji has played a key role in organization building, product management and sales along with Aurigo's CTO Kevin Koenig, that has led to Aurigo becoming the #1 player in this space. Balaji is an alumnus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy,[10] (Top institute in India ranked #7 by Outlook Magazine alongside IITs and BITS Pilani) and the University of Florida, Gainesville.[11] Balaji has been conferred the prestigious Young Alumni Achiever (YAA) Award for excellence in entrepreneurial success, by the board of governors, NIT Trichy for the year 2016, and was presented the award by his excellency Shri. ESL Narasimhan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, India.

Aurigo's chairman Ravi Gulati is very successful and accomplished technology entrepreneur based in New York. RRavi has over 30 years of experience in playing senior leadership roles in corporate America, and he built a very successful software business Stonybrook Software, that was acquired by Ascend in 1996, and then eventually by Lucent in 1999, when Ravi was appointed President of Lucent's NSO business division. Ravi is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and Carnegie Mellon University.

Aurigo's other Investors and Advisers are very accomplished entrepreneurs who have been technology leaders in corporate America and built very large software businesses. They include Sridhar Manthani, Sunil Nanda, and Sheila Gulati who are very involved in advising the business.

Funding

Aurigo was boot strapped in its initial years. The company has raised a total of $10.5M in funding from Ravi Gulati, Balaji Sreenivasan, Sridhar Manthani, Sheila Gulati, Kevin Koenig, Sunil Nanda and Deepak Pulipati.[12] Aurigo generates revenue via its multi-year software subscription service model with large capital owners across the world.

Product and services

Aurigo Masterworks[13] is a cloud based enterprise software system that automates capital planning and program management processes to help capital infrastructure program owners plan and deliver mid-sized to large capital programs. The different Aurigo Masterworks Modules today include capital planning, contract administration, property and right of way management, claims management, materials management, mobile inspections and document control. The Aurigo Masterworks suite ships with a business automation platform [14] that includes an in-built intelligent Drag-N-Drop Forms Designer, Reporting Engine, and Business Workflow Configurator. Aurigo's product stack is built 100% on Microsoft Technologies. Aurigo's product suite also includes a native mobile application that supports iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile.

Aurigo Masterworks is in its 4th generation as of its 10th release scheduled for June 2016. This release includes newer product modules comprising civil rights, materials testing, permitting and outdoor advertising; in addition to the existing modules of capital planning, project controls, document management, estimation, bid management and right of way management. Aurigo Masterworks is being positioned by Aurigo to be the 21st century answer to the legacy systems provided by AASHTOware, and can be deployed in part or as a whole. US States of Utah, Colorado, Wisconsin and Oregon have already moved from AASHTOware in part and deployed different pieces of Aurigo Masterworks to help plan, manage and inspect their capital programs and project delivery. The entire province of Ontario has chosen Aurigo Masterworks for both its employees and external contractors to access online, to help streamline and manage a 8 year CAD 40 Billion infrastructure program more efficiently

Aurigo does not work through system integrators and resellers. It has in in-house Professional Services and consulting team that offers business consulting, implementation, configuration and customization, training, and support services to its customers.[15]

Aurigo offers its solutions both using on-premises and SaaS models. More recently, Aurigo has been in the news for delivering a very innovative procurement model for large agencies like the MTO, that has cost the ministry no direct fees to procure its multi million dollar system [16]
