Austria's Next Topmodel, cycle 5 was the fifth cycle of the Austrian reality documentary based on Tyra Banks America's Next Top Model. Having the entire panel of judges replaced, Austrian-born international fashion model Melanie Scheriau became the new host and was joined by runway-model and former Lagerfeld-muse Carmen Kreuzer, who was also the casting director for the Cycle, and Rolf Scheider, who was already a judge during the third and fourth cycle of Germany's Next Topmodel.[1]
The show kicked off on January 3, 2013 with the lowest ratings on the premiere for the history of the show.[2] In difference to other years the casting process was not featured in the premiere episode. Instead the final 20 contestants arrived in a military bootcamp and were then taken to Egypt, where at the end of the first episode, the cast of the top 15 was selected.

- In Episode 1, six girls won immunity for not using a joker in the military boot camp parkours.
- In Episode 4, Tatjana quit the competition.
- In Episode 5, Aleksandra was absent from the photo shoot and was therefore ineligible for elimination. Katrin performed the best during the shoot, and was also immune. As a result for having performed the worst during the shoot, Iris was eliminated outside of judging panel.
- In the judging for episode 5, Greta was called second but did not receive her photo until after Sina Lisa was eliminated.
