History

Avanza was founded in 1999 as HQ.se. In 2001 HQ.se bought the online stock broker Avanza and kept the name. This merger made Avanza the largest online broker in Sweden with more than 150 000 active customers and a 50% market share among the online brokers.

In May 2006, Avanza acquired Börsveckan AB - the company behind the stock magazine with the same name.

In September 2006, Avanza launched the online magazine Placera Nu.
